Narcotic Withdrawal Pregnancy

lumbar fusion at L5/S1, L4/L5 disc hernia, and pregnancy.?

Hello, I had a lumbar fusion at L5/S1 in June 2009 and Still I have a herniated disc L4/L5. I get married next year and I'm trying to find someone with a similar story to what they live or how your pregnancy gone. I fear it is because I am in strong narcotics for pain. Fentynal take 75mcg patch every other day and I use Soma for muscle spasms. I heard from a doctor is possible analgesic drugs during pregnancy, but we must see a gynecologist specializing in neonatal and infant withdrawal. I would not want my baby addicted to my pain medication, but I have chronic pain and can not live without drugs. Thought the pain pump implanted in the body and provide pain medication directly in the column, do not know if the baby still get drugs through this system or not. If someone was in a similar situation, please share your information with me! Thanks! :)

I'm so sorry about your situation. I do not want to sound rude, but I think it should include a plan with your doctor before becoming pregnant. Yes, you should worry about neonatal withdrawal, but even more possible that other effects could potentially occur. Drug use can have many adverse effects in the unborn baby. Things such as low birth rates, SIDS and many others. Your best bet would be to delay all analgesics. You say you can not live with them, you can. You will not die if you stop taking pain medications. (Usually there are no complications). I am a recovering addict .. any type of narcotic / Pain. I never thought I'de have that title. You need to use painkillers. in moderation, since it seems you're just starting the addiction … just because you think you can not live with them. This is your pregnancy! It will be the greatest moment more, and your mind is on other things while their pain pregnant not so much. It is a great time in your life, please stay away from these drugs. try another type of pain management …. There are many out there. good luck
